Jordan Geronimo, a 2020 small forward, playing with Boston’s Mass Rivals on the Adidas circuit probably had the best summer of any prospect.
Geronimo came into the summer with offers from the likes of George Mason, UNC-Charlotte, and others. In just one week, he’s received scholarship offers from Indiana, Iowa, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech, among others.
“It’s been a wild ride. It’s a blessing that I’ve been able to get these offers,” he said. “When the coaches offered me, all I said was thank you, and it’s just giving me more motivation to keep working hard.”
Geronimo is a 6-foot-6 wing that can do a lot of things on the floor. He immediately passes the eye test with long arms and a very good frame. Then you see him play and fall in love with his athleticism.
“The coaches like my athleticism, length and the fact that I can shoot the three ball at a decent percentage,” Geronimo explained. “They said they see me using my full potential in the open court and also like my defensive presence and energy on the court. One of the most important things that they said was that my defensive potential is as high as my offensive potential.”
Indiana was one of the latest schools to offer Geronimo, and that was one offer that left him speechless.
“I was actually stunned,” he said. “I got the offer off a text from an unsaved number and got a phone call a little while later and talked to the head coach about the program. It all felt so unreal.”
Indiana has already done major work to impress the east coast resident and we discussed exactly what the Hoosiers have been selling.
“Indiana’s pitch was explaining to me how they were going to use me in their system and how I can be a basketball star in the next couple of years under the right development,” he explained. “He started listing NBA players that he coached and I’m not going to lie, that kind of got me feeling some type of way.”
“It made me feel like making it to the NBA isn’t that crazy of a dream.”
While this experience has been a blessing for the talented senior that has worked hard for this moment, he’s hoping that he can end it all soon. He plans to narrow his list down and start taking some officials.
“I’m planning to narrow my list to a top five in the next week or so,” he said.
He doesn’t have any dates currently for any visits, but does have two schools in mind.
“I haven’t taken any official visits yet,” Geronimo said. “I’m probably going to take officials to Boston College and Penn State.”
***UPDATE***
Geronimo is unsure of his timetable. While he initially wanted to narrow down his list soon, he said, “I’m not sure when I’m going to narrow down my my list. It might be later than a week.”
More will come as the story develops.
