Utah sophomore transfer Donnie Tillman has finally made his decision.

After taking official visits to both Rutgers and Illinois, Tillman found solace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“The opportunity to be with my mother,” he said of why he chose UNLV. “To stay home and be a part of something bigger than myself, and that is being a Rebel.”

Tillman joins an incoming Running Rebels class that features Jonah Antonio of South Plains College (TX) and transfers Moses Wood, David Jenkins and Vitally Shibel.

“I love how enthusiastic and honest the coaches were during the visit,” Tillman said. “They showed my mother a great time and the food we ate was amazing.”

Tillman, the former Pac 12 sixth man of the year, averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds on 36-percent shooting from three.

“[Expect] a different player than what they seen in Utah,” he said. “Someone versatile on both ends and plays hard every possession.”

Tillman chose UNLV over Illinois, Rutgers and St. John’s.
