2021 point guard Jaden Akins has been a popular name for many coaches lately.

The 6-3 lead guard recently received offers from Western Michigan and Central Connecticut State, and has a ton more schools showing interest.

“It was a good feeling to get an opportunity to play at the next level,” he said of adding the offers. “They told me that they loved my game and feel like I can fit in their programs.”

Along with offers from Central Connecticut State and Western Michigan, Cleveland State, Toledo and Houston Baptist have also offered. Michigan, Maryland, Xavier, Missouri, Purdue, Michigan State and Butler, among others, are showing interest.

A lot of different coaches have reached out to speak with the emerging guard. He has great size at the one, but he’s most comfortable in two roles.

“I feel like my playmaking is what I do best,” he said. “And I’m at my best in transition.”

Akins is currently in the process of setting up visits to Michigan State and Northwestern. He doesn’t have a set date just yet, but, he did say, “I have talked to coaches at both about visiting.”

Mizzou, who has interest in the 2021 point guard, recently had him on campus for an unofficial visit. The visit went well, and Akins left impressed with the program.

“I enjoyed it a lot,” he said. “They have a great campus and high quality facilities.”

Akins has just started to get coaches attention and doesn’t plan on making any recruiting decisions for a while. He will likely enjoy the process until it’s time to narrow down and commit.
