Neal planning official visits

San Francisco native EJ Neal of Balboa School (CA) currently has three offers and a bunch of local schools interested.

Brown, Montana and Northern Colorado have already offered with Hawaii, UC Santa Barbara, Penn, Columbia and UC Davis showing interest.

There is a lot to like about the 6-4 guard who has made his name being an all-around player.

“The coaches are saying they like my ability to score from all three levels exceptionally well,” he said. “I play hard on both sides of the ball and I take charges on the defensive end at a high rate.”

Neal has taken his time with the process so far but will start making some recruiting decisions soon. He has yet to take any college visits but that will change shortly.

“I’m starting from square one with official visits,” he said. “None planned, but I will start planning soon. And definitely would take some unofficials on the way.”

During the visits, he will be looking for many things. He’ll be prepared to take in everything so that he can make a conscience decision when the time is right.

“What I am looking for most in a program is a program that is stable,” he said. “[One that] sets me up for life after basketball and will help develop me into the best basketball player I can be after four years.”

Right now, he’s not ready to commit to any program and remains open with his recruitment. He will take his visits then, “evaluate each school and see what’s the best fit for me as a player and most importantly a student.”
