2020 wing Javonte Johnson of Cheyenne Mountain (CO) is a wanted man these days.
Johnson recently added offers from Loyola Marymount, Cal State Fullerton, San Jose State & more.
Northern Colorado, Denver, Montana and New Mexico have also offered with Boise State, Nevada, Wichita State and Grand Canyon showing interest.
“[Coaches] say that I’m really versatile on offense, and on defense, being able to play multiple positions as well as being able to defend multiple positions,” Johnson explained. “[Coaches] say I can score on all three levels and that I have good upside for my position and they feel like I can make an impact right away.”
So far he’s taken unofficial visits to Denver and Northern Colorado, while also taking a trip down to New Mexico for an official.
“It was good. I liked everything about it,” he said of his visit to New Mexico. “I got to really meet and talk with the coaching staff and players. I got to train and hang out with some of the players on the team, and I got to watch them have a real practice. In all, it was just a really good experience.”
While he doesn’t have any more visits planned at the moment, he does, “plan to visit more unofficially and officially in the fall.”
After he’s done with visits, he’ll start make recruiting decisions.
“I’ll probably cut down my list sometime late September or October then make a decision,” he said. “Late October or November right before the school season.”
