It was a long wait but his hard work finally paid off.

2021 point guard Ismail Habib of Team Rose/Lincoln Park, received an offer from Illinois great Dee Brown of Illinois-Chicago.

“I wasn’t really expecting it,” Habib said. “Coach Dee Brown just walked up from behind me and tapped me. [He] had a little conversation with me, saying he was going to offer me. Overall, it felt great man just to get one in the bag.”

Illinois-Chicago is his lone offer, but Florida Atlantic, Loyola, Holy Cross, Youngstown State, Tulsa and UW-Milwaukee are showing interest.

“Most of them really just told me they like how I get up and down the floor,” he said. “I can shoot it real good, good pull up game, can get to the basket–just an all around player that can also make his teammates better.”

He has visits in the works to Florida Atlantic and Youngstown State in September. While the dates are not definitive at the moment, he does plan on visiting both in the very near future.

As for where he is at in his recruitment? It’s fairly simple.

“Right now I just got my first offer. So, I’m really not going to decided anything yet until later on in the school year,” he said.
