2020 Southmoore (OK) power forward Sam Godwin hasn’t stopped fielding calls from any schools at this point.
Colorado State, Wofford, Loyola-Chicago, Oklahoma, North Texas, Southern Illinois, Northern Colorado and Nebraska-Omaha are all currently recruiting the 6-8 student-athlete along with Division II programs such as Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist and Arkansas-Fort Smith.
“I think the thing that stands out the most would be my versatility,” he said. “Just being able to run the floor well and get easy buckets in transition is something I think everyone notices when they watch me play.”
Godwin is currently at the visit stage in his recruitment. He recently took a trip to North Texas for an unofficial visit, where he got to see the campus and left with an offer.
“North Texas was amazing. The facilities were all brand new and super nice,” he said. “The coaching staff made me feel welcomed right away. Overall, it was a great experience.”
So far, he’s scheduled a few more unofficial visits with Southern Illinois (August 30th), Central Oklahoma (September 5th), Oklahoma Baptist (September 6-7th) and Arkansas-Fort Smith (September 13th). He’s still working on finalizing a few more visits within that month.
Army, North Texas, Oklahoma Baptist and a few more are in consideration for official visits.
At The Moment
His recruitment is full of excitement as he’s taking both Division I and II very seriously. There’s a very real possibility that he could narrow down his list but an early decision is very unlikely.
“I’m about to narrow it down,” he said. “But, I’m not deciding until probably November at the earliest.”
