Swedish big Anton Jansson has spent just a few weeks in the states and already has three Division I scholarship offers.
Ohio, Evansville and St. Joseph’s have offered so far with Oregon State, South Florida, Southern Illinois, Texas Tech, Temple and Marshall all showing interest.
Oregon State, St. Joseph, South Florida and Southern Illinois have been coming at the 6-11 center the hardest.
“They like how I can stretch the floor with my shooting ability and handles, and at the same time do damage with my length inside,” Jansson said. “Another big thing is how verbal I am on the defensive side of the court and how well I move on defense. I can guard wings as well as big. I also work really hard.”
Jansson will surely continue to garner more attention from Division I coaches as long as they are able to see him play. But don’t expect the Golden State Prep (CA) big to wait around forever for schools. He’s planning to commit in early Spring February or March.
He’s thinking about taking a few visits in the near future but nothing concrete just yet.
“Nothing official,” he said of taking visits. “But I have been starting to talk to lots of schools about visiting soon.”
