ESPN four-star wing D’Andre Davis of Lawrence Central (IN) committed to Louisville following his official visit to campus.
Davis decommitted from Nebraska on October 13th and chose Louisville seven days later.
“I really didn’t want to drag it on into the season. I wanted to get it over with before the season started so I had a clear head,” Davis explained. “I felt it was right. I knew my heart was at Louisville and I knew that’s where I wanted to be. So why wait?”
Davis joins junior college wing Jay Scrubb in Louisville’s 2020 recruiting class. He chose Louisville over Purdue and Xavier, two programs he scheduled official visits with that he planned on taking over the course of the next two weeks.
Louisville made Davis a priority from the moment they learned he decommitted from Nebraska. They went to visit him during his open gym, struck first with the official visit and sealed the deal once they got him on campus.
“After being able to be around coach [Chris] Mack and the team, I got a good understanding of what he wants and what he expects from his players,” he said. “He’s a genuine dude, real down to earth. You can tell he really cares about his players, and that was the big thing that stuck out to me. Also, they really spoke highly about togetherness. They always use the word family and that was huge to me as well.”
Louisville can use a player like Davis right away. The four-star wing has all the scoring intangibles to be a threat from day one. His versatility will be utilized in the right way at Louisville and that’s something that really intrigued him about the school.
“I think I will fit in well due to my versatility and being able to guard multiple positions and being able to be used in multiple positions offensively,” he said. “I can score from the outside, I can get to the rim, I got a good mid range game and I can post up. I think I can be effective in many different ways. Not just for myself but also creating for others on the team.”
