Last year, Blinn College (TX) forward Tristan Ikpe averaged 10.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on nearly 60-percent shooting from the field.
Central Michigan, Chicago State, Sam Houston State, Alcorn State and Southern Illinois have all expressed interest and are hoping he brings that same tenacity to their program.
“They like how I play hard and that I’m a dog on the court,” Ikpe said.
Alcorn State especially liked what they’ve seen from him so far because they didn’t hesitate to reach out an offer the 6-6 forward.
“It was shocking honestly,” he said of adding his first offer. “It was something I was working towards since high school. So it was good to finally achieve my dream of getting my first Division I offer.”
It can only go up from here for Ikpe. Sam Houston State and Central Michigan have been in to see him recently and speak to him following his practice. He hopes his game continues to attract more programs, and he knows exactly how he intends to do that.
“Being able to show how versatile I really am,” he said of what he’s working on to keep getting looks from Division I programs. “And hit outside shots.”
