The Jamborees have been paying dividends for a lot of junior college athletes including Robert “Bobby” Harvey.

The Illinois native formally of Maryville University has utilized his final year of junior college to help his cause of getting to the next level.

“Coaches like that I am very vocal and can bring size, athleticism, and versatility translating over to defense putting pressure on the ball,” he said. “They also like that I can make shots from all levels and my shooting ability from the outside–being able to create on and off ball screens.”

Illinois-Chicago and IUPUI both liked him a lot after the Jamborees, and IUPUI followed up with a visit to Wabash Valley where they extended an offer after watching him practice.

“I was excited inside when I got the news from coach [Byron] Rimm,” he said.

Harvey is still open in his recruitment. He doesn’t have any visits planned and doesn’t plan on making any decision anytime soon. He’s focused on improving his game and being a better player than he was two years prior.

“In high school I didn’t really focus on defense much. I was also more of a catch and shoot guy,” he said. “But now, I worked on my handles a lot and now I’m able to shoot it off the dribble and score inside and outside, and really bit down and lock in on defense.”
