Consensus three star shooting guard Richie Saunders of Wasatch Academy (UT) decided to keep his talents in-state and committed to BYU.

“I love the energy,” Saunders said. “The staff has so much energy and I wanted to be apart of it. I’ve grown up really close to there. I want to help build this program.”

The 6-4 guard is the first commitment for first year head coach Mark Pope.

“They’ve been so great to me,” he said. “They know what they are doing and I believe in it. They are an amazing staff.”

Saunders chose BYU over Utah State and Creighton.
