It’s still very early in the process for Reitz (IN) wing Owen Dease but college programs are trying to get in early on the emerging prospect.
At 6-5, Dease separates himself due to his versatility to play both the wing and two spot and defend multiple positions.
“Coaches love that I’m big with guard skills,” Dease explained. “I can create for others and always get my own shot.”
At this time, Miami (OH) and Evansville are his only offers with Purdue, Butler, Indiana and Nevada showing interest among others.
Miami (OH) coach Jack Owens was the more recent scholarship offer for the 6-5 junior and he was thankful for the opportunity.
“[It] was great,” he said of the offer. “I like them a lot and their team is really good to me.”
Upside and potential are two words that have started to attach to the name of Dease and more programs have started to take a look as a result. He has plenty of time before making a decision, another AAU period, plus his senior year of basketball.
Don’t expect any quick decisions or for it to end in the near future.
“I’m not narrowing down,” he said. “I’m keeping it open until my senior year for sure.”
