Southeastern Missouri State assistant coach Tarrance Crump took in the Pontiac Holiday Tournament semifinals, where 2021 guard Jaiden Lee helped his Joliet West (IL) squad to a win over Simeon (IL).

Lee finished with 17 points and six rebounds and later helped lead his team to a third place finish.

Soon after, coach Crump reached out and Lee finally received his first Division I scholarship offer.

“It was a great feeling to have because I have always been talking about getting one,” Lee said of adding his first Division I offer. “When I got it that made me want to work even harder so that I can get more offers.”

Toledo assistant coach Justin Ingram has also shown some interest in the guard and he plans on taking an unofficial visit soon.

“I have been talking to coach [Justin] Ingram from Toledo,” he said. “I think I have a visit there on the 11th. I’m very excited about that.”

Toledo offers him plenty when it comes to a college basketball program, but he’ll be focused on a few things when he makes his way to campus.

“How their program is ran,” he said. “Also, what it’s like to be on a Division I campus.”

His recruitment is really starting to pick up and now that Joliet West (IL) is on the radar of local programs, I assure you that more will get involved.

“They like how I can shoot the ball and attack rebounds,” he said. “And play defense with the wingspan I have to contest shots and get to the basket.”
