After a year at Williston Northampton School (MA), Wol Maiwen is headed back home to play his college basketball at Maine with the Black Bears.
“It’s home,” he said. “I have a huge amount of support here in Maine and being able to play here is a great feeling.”
Maiwen joins forward Matt Fleming from New York, forward Leyton Bickford from Maine, and guard Randell Wiel in Maine’s 2020 recruiting class.
“With the work I know I’m putting in and will continue to put in, I’m hoping to be able to be a player that will leave a mark,” he said. “Defenses always been a big part of my game and with the amazing talent I’ll be playing with and against everyday, I want to be known as that guy on defense.”
Maine gets a super athletic forward with a lot of upside. He joining Maine with a chip on his should and will come with a strong work ethic and much more.
“With my length and athleticism, I want to be able to guard all positions from guards to maybe bigs if it comes to it. I know with the great program that UMaine is, they’ll help me get what I need. From getting bigger and stronger to being able to play my best ball.”
