After transferring from American, 6-8 forward Drew LaMont enrolled at Indian River State (FL), one of the better junior college programs in the country.

LaMont finished the year on All-Conference first team, while also averaging 12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds, while shooting 40.8-percent from three.

“[Coaches like] that I can shoot at a high level,” LaMont explained. “I have an elite understanding of the game and also that I’m skilled, and have great pace.”

Stony Brook and McNeese State offered LaMont yesterday, while UNC-Asheville, Appalachian State, Northern Colorado, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Akron and SIU-Edwardsville are also paying attention.

McNeese State became his first offer since transferring to the junior college ranks and he’s got a lot of good things to say about the staff.

“I think their staff is great. They seem very genuine,” he said. “They have great facilities and attendance, and that speaks to the program and staff.”

LaMont just added his first two offers and will not be in any rush to make a decision.

“I’m just waiting to see who offers me,” he said. “So I can start to narrow down.”
