Coaches offering JUCO guard Tipler

In less than 24 hours, Northeast Mississippi (MS) point guard DeAnthony Tipler added two scholarship offers.

Prairie View A&M and Jackson State both offered the talented guard that helped lead NEMCC to their second MACJC North Division championship in four years.

“It kind of shocked me,” Tipler explained. “I knew more would come but I just didn’t know when.”

Portland, Troy, Southeastern Louisiana, Sam Houston State, Weber State, Coastal Carolina and Cal State Bakersfield are following him as well.

Most coaches like his scoring ability, he told ScoopmanTV. He can score well from all different levels, and you can tell that by his averages this season.

He finished the year averaging 20.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.0 assist, 1.5 steals and shot 37.8 percent from the field. His offensive ability has brought a lot of positive attention to his game, and it’s helped him get a sense of where he needs to be or where he could go.

“I’m narrowing down soon,” he said. “I’m being patient with it.”

And what is he looking for?

“Education, and a place I can come right in and help the team win,” Tipler said. “And the pace of team play.”
