And then there were two.
Cleveland State and Iona still have a shot at landing Scotland Campus (PA) forward Jayson Woodrich, originally from Ohio.
“I just feel like these two schools are the most ideal places for me and I will have the best chance to succeed, not just in college, but after,” Woodrich said. “Coach [Dennis] Gates and coach [Rick] Pitino are both great coaches and it would be amazing to play for either of them.”
Manhattan, Saint Louis, Fairfield, Stony Brook and Bryant, amongst others, were recruiting him heavily throughout the process, but it came down to coaching pedigree and fit for Woodrich.
Cleveland State: “I love the culture that coach Gates and the rest of the staff brings, and I know they are heading in the right direction. And, that’s home for me. It’s always been a dream of mine to play for my hometown.”
Iona: “Playing for coach Pitino is anybody’s dream, and I feel like he gives me a great chance to get to the next level after college.”
Woodrich is taking a couple days to mull a decision but the announcement is imminent. Cleveland or Iona for the sharpshooter forward from Ohio.
