6-11 Georgia Highlands College (GA) power forward Jamal Burke received three scholarship offers in less than 24 hours.
Eastern Michigan, Southern and Old Dominion all offered the junior college student-athlete joining Radford. UT-Martin, Maryland Eastern Shore, IUPUI, and USC Upstate are the Division I college showing interest.
Eastern Michigan was the last program to offer Burke and he’s intrigued with their approach.
“I like how straight up and honest they are with me,” Burke said. “That’s how they’ve been the whole recruiting process and that’s a big thing for me.”
At 6-11, it’s easy to see why most refer to Burke as “Stretch.” The long and agile talent spent last year dominating the glass and protecting the paint.
In his lone season at Georgia Highlands College, Burke averaged 8.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks on 56-percent shooting from the field.
It’s why most coaches have spent the entire season getting to know him and watching his progression.
“They’ve (coaches) mentioned everything from my touch around the basket, to how well I can catch the ball,” Burke explained.
While nothing is set in stone, Burke would like to commit soon. He isn’t going to rush his decision but he would like to start making some recruiting decisions soon.
“Once I sit down with my mom, talk about it all and break it down, I think I can make a decision,” Burke explained. “It may be a few weeks before this happens though.”
