The ICCAC Player of the Year Justin Brookens added a Division I offer from Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Iowa Lakes (IA) point guard announced the scholarship offer via Twitter.
“They call me daily to check in with me…probably three times a day to see how I’m feeling,” Brookens said. “They want to see where my mind is at and just keep promoting their school, and telling me to come there.”
Purdue Fort Wayne followed Brookens throughout the year and liked what they saw. He won Player of the Year in a very tough conference and led Iowa Lakes to a 26-6 record.
He averaged 20.1 points, 4.9 assist and 4.0 rebounds per game, while also shooting 52-percent shooting from three.
He led his conference in both scoring and assist, while also being named to the 2020 Region XI All-Tournament team and First Team All-Region.
He is the ideal lead guard for many programs, and that’s what colleges are saying they like about his game.
“They like how I can score and get my teammates involved…really just how I run a team,” he said. “I’m a winner. I compete on every play. That’s really what they like the most about me.”
Brookens recruitment is winding down and a decision could be imminent. He’ll be looking over his options and will make sure they check all the boxes before he makes his choice.
“My main priorities are my major, style of play and just being around good people,” Brookens explained. “There’s nothing like having a family atmosphere and good vibes.”
