Division II-Mercy College (NY) power forward Bryan Griffin is headed to the Division I ranks as a graduate transfer.

After just a few weeks with his name in the NCAA transfer portal, Griffin made his commitment to Xavier official and announced on Twitter.

“It was a great fit for me…academically, as well as basketball,” Griffin said. “I want to play pro ball and win a championship. I know I can do that developing my last year at Xavier.”

Griffin joins Xavier incoming class that features point guard Dwon Odom, shooting guard CJ Wilcher, shooting guard Colby Jones and Gardner Webb transfer Nate Johnson.

Last season, Griffin averaged 19.6 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game, while also tallying 17 double-double, which ranked third in all of Division II basketball.

He will likely step into a role similar to Tyrique Jones of last season, who averaged 14.0 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for Xavier.
