The MACJC First Team All-State forward Dontrell McQuarter has been a popular man amongst coaches after his impressive sophomore season at Hinds Community College (MS).

Schools such as North Carolina A&T, Prairie View A&M, Southern Illinois, Iona, Canisius, Troy, Jackson State, Southeast Missouri State, and plenty more have recruited him over the year, including Southern Utah, who just offered him a scholarship.

“It’s cool,” he said of his relationship with the Southern Utah staff. “I’m getting familiar with them over time.”

McQuarter averaged 15.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assist per game. He also shot 57-percent from the field and 44-percent from three. His versatility is the reason many coaches have been paying attention.

“I can guard the one through four,” he said. “I’m efficient in the post and just can get a bucket.”

McQuarter finished this season on the 2019-2020 NJCAA Region XXIII Men’s All-Region team, as well as, the NJCAA Region XXIII All-Tournament team. He is one of ten players to ever do that at Hinds Community College.
