The former MACJC scoring leader JiTaurious Gordon is leaving Troy after one season with the program.

Gordon averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 assist and 2.9 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game at Troy. He scored in double figures in 20 of 31 outings for the Trojans and shot 35-percent from three.

“I just wanted to put myself in a better place to grow on and off the court,” Gordon explained.

A few schools have reached out to Gordon since he placed his name in the portal but right now he’s not worried about his recruitment. He’s going to take his time with the process after getting another opportunity and will make a decision patiently.

“I haven’t been paying attention to it as of now,” he said. “I really don’t know [what schools reached out.] I’m just taking some time off right now to relax on it.”

When that time comes for Gordon to find a new home, he’ll be keeping one thing in mind.

“I’ll be taking some time to find a perfect fit for me and my family,” Gordon said.

Before Troy, Gordon lit up the junior college ranks averaging 20.6 points and 4.1 assist per game, while shooting 48-percent from the field.

He finished that season with first team All-MACJC and All-Region 23 honors.
