Jacksonville State got some good years out of junior point guard Derek St. Hilaire, but after just two playing seasons, the Georgia native is on the move.

St. Hilaire averaged 6.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assist per game for the Gamecocks.

“I’m just wanting more of an involved role,” St. Hilaire explained. “And I might not get that at Jacksonville.”

Since St. Hilaire entered the portal UNC-Asheville, USC-Aiken, Texas A&M International, Georgia Southwestern and Columbus State, among others, have reached out.

His decision will be a patient one. Don’t expect it to happen in the near future.

“No idea,” he said of when he’ll decide. “Not rushing it though since I just entered the portal.”
