Yesterday the NCAA Division I Council Coordination Committee and the Division II Administrative Committee elected to extend the recruiting dead period through May 31st.

“The Division I Council Coordination Committee and the Division II Administrative Committee extended the recruiting dead period through May 31. The committees will continue to be guided by experts to determine whether the date needs to be extended.”

Inside the NCAA

Essentially college programs at the Division I and II levels are still permitted to contact prospective student-athletes but it can not be done in person. Therefore meaning, prospective student-athletes will not be permitted to visit college campuses on an unofficial or official visit during the period.

Official definition provided by the NCAA about a “dead period.”

During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.
