March 10, 2020, Southern Miss reached out to St. Augustine (LA) combo guard Jaron Pierre and offered him a scholarship.
Three weeks later, Pierre decided to end his recruitment and commit to the program.
“It felt like home. Coach kept it real with me from day one,” Pierre explained. “Me and my mom looked into it very much and I feel like it’s the best fit for me school wise and basketball wise.”
He chose Southern Miss over offers from New Orleans, Mercer and Southeastern.
Pierre brings a winning mentality, he’s a pure scorer and a good fit for the Golden Eagles.
“I can flat out score the ball. I can shoot the cover off it,” he said. “I’m athletic, I can score on all three levels, a team player and I have heart and toughness.”
Pierre believes Southern Miss will take his game and ultimately make him better. Out of all the programs within his list, he trusted Southern Miss the most with his basketball career.
