According to his Twitter account, the former Big South All-Freshman guard Jose Perez is entering the transfer portal.
After careful though and consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal and pursue a fresh start and a new opportunity next year. I am very thankful for my time at Gardner-Webb and the relationships built and memories made in my 2 years here. I want to thank the coaching staff and my great teammates for all of there support over my 2 years. You guys have made me a better person and player and I am forever grateful for what we were able to accomplish in my 2 years. I am excited for what the future holds for me on & off the court!
Jose Perez’s statement
The 6-5 guard, originally from the Bronx, NY, averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.2 assist per game last season.
He should be a heavily pursued transfer after proving he could play on the high major level. Perez scored in double-figures in all but one game against power conference schools.
