2021 Wichita Southeast (KS) point guard Jackie Johnson added his second scholarship following a conversation with Coastal Carolina assistant coach Elwyn McRoy.
“I have a great relationship with coach McRoy,” Johnson explained. “He’s a great guy and he’s also from Wichita, Kansas, where I’m from.”
Eastern Washington and Coastal Carolina are the programs that have offered him a scholarship so far with Wichita State, Oklahoma and Minnesota paying attention.
Johnson, around the Wichita area, has the reputation of a bucket. He’s definitely a floor general and can get his teammates involved, but scoring seems to come natural for him, and that’s what coaches have said they liked about his game.
“They say they like how I get my teammates involved,” he said. “How I’m a scoring guard and they also say I’m a winner.”
