Georgia Southern adds Division II transfer

Georgia Southern added a commitment from Flager (Div. II) sophomore transfer Gedi Juozapaitis.

The 6-foot-5 guard, originally from London, England, joins forward Cam Bryant and guard Eric Boone in the Eagles 2020 recruiting class.

“I couldn’t visit because of the virus going around but I got to see the campus through virtual tours, pictures and videos,” he said. “The campus and facilities look amazing and I can’t wait to get there and get to work.”

Juozapaitis joins the Division I ranks after being named All PBC first team as a sophomore and breaking the Flagler school record for three point shots made in a season with 112.

He eventually finished the season averaging 19 points and 7.6 rebounds, while shooting 49-percent from the floor and 46-percent from three.

He should fit in perfectly with Burg, who has had success with guards with similar play styles at Texas Tech, and that’s what really sold Juozapaitis.

“I managed to build a relationship with {head] coach [Brian] Burg and the coaching staff during my recruitment,” he said. “I like the vision coach Burg has set out for the program and after discussing it with him, I knew I wanted to be a part of that.”

Georgia Southern adds an underrated piece to their roster that could impact the game immediately. He’s already added his mark on the level, acquiring a double-double in his first Division I game against Florida Atlantic last season.

He finished the game with 24 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three assist. He also knocked down 4-of-10 (40%) three point shots against an FAU team that finished with a winning record.
