2022 point guard Jaquan Harris isn’t able to talk to college coaches directly but they’re talking about him.
Harris, considered to be one of the best young prospects on the East coast, received scholarship offers from St. John’s and Illinois in the past few days bringing his offer total to seven.
“I watched a few games on TV when the season was going on,” he said of Illinois. “I noticed they could compete with everyone they played against and were able to pull out some big wins.”
He also paid close attention to St. John’s in their first year with head coach Mike Anderson.
“I like that they’re close to home,” he said. They are also in one of the best conferences in basketball, which is the Big East.”
Rutgers, Auburn, Seton Hall, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Bryant have offered Harris, with Virginia Tech, Temple and Georgetown showing interest.
Barring a complete shutdown of the summer evaluation periods, Harris will be suiting up for the New York Jayhawks on the Adidas circuit. He’ll be one of the more improved guards on the circuit looking to show how much he progressed during his sophomore season.
“I’m a great playmaker and I can score at all three levels while playing the point guard,” he said. “I’m a competitor from start to finish and I will give my all no matter what.”
