Pay attention to 2021 6-foot-6 point guard Wesley Cardet Jr.
The Northeast (FL) junior just picked up three offers this week from Iona, Kansas State and Maryland.
Iona is a program he likes due to their, “legendary coach with ties to the NBA,” he explained, and Kansas State is somewhere he see’s potential.
“I know that [Head] coach [Bruce] Weber is a good coach and a tough coach who believes in defense,” he said. “They didn’t have a good season this year, but I expect them to bounce back next year especially with the arrival of Selton [Miguel].”
Iona, Kansas State, Alabama, UMKC, Samford and Maryland are also recruiting him. Baylor, North Carolina State, Tulsa and VCU have reached out recently.
Most programs like his competitiveness, his ability to play both guard spots and his size at the position. He can do a little bit of everything on offense, but also lock up on defense.
Coaches have expressed exactly that when communicating to Cardet about his game, and that’s why I anticipate more programs will get involved in the near future.
“Coaches like my size at my position,” he said. “They like that I’m a big guard, playmaker and my court vision at 6-foot-6. I can also defend smaller guards.”
