2021 guard Andres Marrero is a smooth shooting combo guard that can just flat out play. Marrero played his AAU ball with the New York Jayhawks (NY) 16U team and ScoopmanTV got the opportunity to see him play a few times.

He plays smart, in control and his jump shot is only going to continue to get better. These are some of the observations coaches have had about his game as well.

“Coaches like that I’m very skilled,” he said. “They like my IQ and the way I see the game. Also the way I catch and shoot.”

Stony Brook, St. Peter’s, La Salle, Bryant, Mount St. Mary’s, Fordham and Siena have offered while Saint Louis, Fairleigh Dickinson, Charlotte, Niagara, Northeastern and Lehigh have been in contact showing interest.

While most 2021 prospect are narrowing down their list or possibly even committing early, Marrero isn’t interested in either and plans to, “wait and decide after my high school season,” he explained.

So right now, his focus is on improving his game, and he’s utilizing the extra time off to perfect many aspects of his skill set.

“My speed and my ball handling,” Marrero said. “Creating different ways to get to the rim and different ways to finish through contact.”
