Three scholarships have been offered to 2022 Oak Mountain (AL) power forward Will Shaver in the past few weeks with Iowa State being the most recent.
“[Iowa State is] probably the staff I had the most chemistry with just because they have Alabama roots,” Shaver said. “But meeting them and talking to them the past weeks have been great. I enjoy talking to them a lot and love the coaches there and what they’re about.”
He also holds offers from UAB, Alabama, Virginia Tech and Samford, with programs such as Auburn, Purdue, Ohio State, Xavier, Northwestern, Butler, Stanford, Belmont, Georgetown, Virginia and Western Kentucky showing interest.
These coaches all like his size at 6-foot-10 and the skill that comes with it.
“Coaches like my ability to stretch the floor,” he said. “And the ability to post up in the mid post and make plays from there.”
The talented 2022 prospect still has plenty of programs following his game and likely waiting to see him play again before they offer him a scholarship. If that is the case, they won’t be disappointed because Shaver is working hard to keep his game sharp and also adding more elements to his already polished skill set.
“I’m working on scoring on all three levels,” Shaver explained. “I can post up, I can shoot the three but the ability to score off the dribble is the biggest thing I’m working on right now.”
