Mo Williams offered 2021 Alabama guard VJ Reeves

2021 Wenonah (AL) guard Vincent “VJ” Reeves Jr. added his first scholarship offer from newly-hired Alabama State head coach Mo Williams.

“It was like a rush of excitement. It felt great,” Reeves explained. “Then knowing Mo Williams is about to change the program just felt even better.”

Not only was Reeves Jr. excited about adding his first offer, but was even more enthused about who it came from. Yes, it is the Mo Williams that played alongside Lebron James for part of his career. And yes, he was apart of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers that become the first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the finals.

He is now coaching Alabama State, and just gave Reeves, a 6-foot-5 guard, his first scholarship offer.

“That’s a great feeling,” he said of receiving the offer from Mo Williams. “I got game, and it just makes you feel better all around.”

Wofford, Alabama and North Alabama are also paying attention to Reeves, who said that coaches like, “my size, scoring ability and my athleticism.”

To continue to more opportunites, Reeves is working on improving the most important parts of any guards game but also making sure to focus on just about everything.

“My body,” he said. “Ball handling and footwork, but all around for real.”
