2021 Moeller (OH) forward Alex Williams announced his commitment to Furman on his personal Twitter account.

The 6-foot-5 wing chose Furman over offers from Robert Morris, Kent State, Youngstown State and Milwaukee, among others.

“They were genuine from the start and they have been recruiting me for almost a year now,” he said. “And I love their style of play. I think it’s perfect for me. I also love all the coaching staff. They have gotten to know me and always were checking on me. Also the players..I have built a strong relationship with them.”

Williams is the first commit for Furman in their 2021 recruiting class.

“[Fans] should expect a player that wants to win no matter what,” he explained. “And will do whatever to win.”

Williams pegged as one of the more underrated players in his class, will be a steal for a Furman program that will need his championship DNA to help their program moving forward. Williams helped Moeller to two consectutive state championships and was going for a third before the pandemic.

The extremely versatile offensive threat will be a gem in the Southern Conference.

“Some of my strengths are that I’m real versatile,” he said. “You can put me anywhere on the court, I can guard anyone and my ability to get the best out of people.”
