Former Wake Forest commit Trey James will actually be playing for another legendary coach for the duration of his basketball career.
James, a 6-foot-10 center, chose to play for Iona head coach Rick Pitino, who coached at home-state program Louisville during his maturing years.
He chose Iona over the likes of Iowa, Tennessee Tech, Appalachian State and Elon.
He is the eighth overall recruit that coach Pitino has gotten to commit to the program and the first in his 2021 recruiting class.
After decommitting from Wake Forest, James said, “almost every coach I’ve spoken to has always told me that their favorite thing about me is either my toughness or how hard I play.”
