Iona head coach Rick Pitino recently jumped on a zoom call with 2022 Tapestry Charter School (NY) wing Massai Graham and offered him a scholarship.
Monmouth and Bryant have also offered him with Tennessee, Buffalo and New Mexico are also showing interest in the 6-foot-7 forward.
“I think that coach Pitino is a very good person outside of basketball,” he said. “And understands what I want to do and I understand what he wants to do.”
Graham, one of the most underrated player on the east coast, finished The Finale put on by the Prep Hoops Circuit averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game playing with NEBC.
Without coaches in the gym this summer, a lot of them missed the opportunity to see the improvement of Graham. But some that have been able to see him in the past, and on film, have all enjoyed one aspect of his game that makes him standout among most.
“Most coaches say I have NBA athleticism,” he said. “That’s what they are most drawn too.”
Graham has shown some of his improvement so far this summer, including his jumper that has improved a lot. He’s still improving that aspect of his game, and also some other things on the offensive end.
“My jumper,” he said of what he’s looking to improve. “More off the ball stuff and ball handling.”
