2021 combo guard Aisaiah Phillips was looking for more opportunity and eyes, and he will get just that at Bella Vista (AZ), the program he just announced he would be playing for this season.
Phillips will be coached by Corey Boswell, someone who believed in his game immediately.
“Just being on the bigger platform,” he said of his transfer. “And coach Corey really believes in me and what I can do and that’s really important to me.”
Headed into his final season of high school basketball, Phillips has coaches from Rhode Island, Cal-Berkeley, Saint Louis, Providence and plenty more programs interested. All of them are following his progression and like what he brings to any backcourt.
“My physical tools,” he said of what coaches like the most. “I’m strong and athletic, and it helps on both ends of the floor.”
Going into this season, his focus is on improving his game and the mental aspect is just one of the many things he’s putting a lot of emphasis on moving forward.
“Not letting emotions control me or how I control the game,” he said of what he wants to improve on. “Always staying solid because at my position I have to lead and run the team, and they look for me for strength and stability.”
