One of the standouts from the Mid Atlantic Independent Shootout was easily the Patrick School (NJ) wing Scotty Middleton, who made sure to take advantage of the spotlight and recently he has been rewarded for it.
The 2023 prospect that plays his AAU ball for the Renaissance (NY) recently added a Big East offer from DePaul and couldn’t have been happier when he got the news.
“I was very excited,” he said. “DePaul was one of the teams I enjoyed watching last season. So for them to offer me was amazing.”
Kansas State also recently reached out to offer him a scholarship and Middleton spoke about his conversation with the Wildcats assistant coach.
“I spoke with coach [Shane] Southwell and from the start he talked about what they were trying to do with their program and how I will fit into it,” Middleton explained. “I watched them play a few times last year and they definitely were a top 5 team I enjoyed watching.”
Along with DePaul and Kansas State, Bryant, Penn State and La Salle have also offered him a scholarship with interest coming from Virginia, George Washington, Nebraska, Creighton, Washington, Saint Peters, Providence, Iona, Ohio State, Pitt and Coastal Carolina.
At 6-foot-7, Middleton has the ideal size for any wing and the athleticism, but there’s definitely more to his game that coaches are able to see now and it’s led to him becoming one of the more underrated players in the east.
“Coaches like my mentality the most and my will to win,” Middleton said. “My defensive abilities, being able to guard all positions, being vocal and my leadership.”
