2024 Lake Highlands (TX) guard Tre “R.J.” Johnson has already been identified as one of the best players in his class.

The 6-foot-4 guard is ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the class of 2024 by ESPN and plenty of high major programs have gotten involved early in the process.

Alabama State, Prairie View A&M, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Texas have all offered so far, he told ScoopmanTV. Gonzaga, Baylor, Houston and Ole Miss are all showing heavy interest as well.

“It felt good,” he said of adding recent offers. “I was excited and motivated to work harder to get more big time schools.”

So far, there’s a lot to like about his game. He has great size for either spot in the backcourt and he’s a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses on the offensive end.

“Coaches like the way I use my size to score the basketball,” Johnson explained. “Either me posting up or shooting over smaller guards.”

Texas, who most recently offered him a scholarship, can plan to see him on campus next month. He confirmed with ScoopmanTV that he will be taking an unofficial visit to Texas August 1st when 2024 prospects are allowed.

“I hope to see the campus and be able to watch the players practice,” he said. “See the thing they do and work on some of those things so I can become a better player.”
