IMG Academy (FL) entered the City of Palms Classic after early wins this season over Montverde Academy (FL) and Oak Hill (VA) with their only loss coming against a great Sunrise Christian (KS) team filled with Division I talent.
But their opponent Ballard (KY) came prepared to add another loss to their record and almost succeeded. Ballard led by five at the half, but in the end, IMG Academy roared back to get the win in their first showing of the 2021 City of Palms Classic.
Keyonte George led the charge for IMG with 24 points on 10-of-14 (71%) shooting to go with four rebounds and three steals. Ballard has three players in double-figures led by Gabe Sisk who finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Ballard hit 6 of their 10 threes in the first half as opposed to 4 of 13 in the second.
Montverde Academy (FL) also made their 2021 City of Palms debut with a 76-51 win over Berkmar (GA). Five players finished in double-figures led by 16-point efforts from five-star Duke commit Dariq Whitehead and four-star Indiana commit Jalen Hood-Schifino.
Meanwhile, Oak Hill (VA) got 20 points and 13 rebounds out East Tennessee State commit Jeremy Gregory, which helped them cruise to an 82-48 victory over Isidore Newman (LA)
