The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2024 McDonald’s All-American game, and this year’s crop of talent brings a lot of history and storylines to an already historic game.

Alabama, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina and Rutgers each will have multiple players playing in the game. The Scarlet Knights will have multiple McDonald’s All Americans (F Airious Bailey/G Dylan Harper) playing in the game for the first time in program history. The only other time Rutgers had any player play in the game was in 2008 (Michael Rosario).

Alabama will have multiple representatives for the third time in program history (2022 – Brandon Miller, Jaden Bradley & 1981 – Bobby Lee Hurt, Ennis Whatley) when forward Derrion Reid and center Aiden Sherrell suit up on April 2nd.

For Kentucky, John Calipari will have multiple players in the game for the third straight year. As it stands right now, Calipari has coached over 50 McDonald’s All Americans as freshmen, the second most by any coach behind only former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Speaking of Duke, the Blue Devils will have multiple players playing in the McDonald’s All-American game for the 14th straight year. The last time Duke had only one player play in the game before enrolling at Duke as a freshman was in 2010, and that player was Kyrie Irving.

No other program in the games history has had a streak of over 5 consecutive years with multiple players in the game.

North Carolina brings in their first McDonald’s All American from the high school ranks since 2020, breaking their longest drought between representatives in the game.

Auburn has had a McDonald’s All-American in back-to-back recruiting classes for only the second time in program history. The last time they had a pair of McDonald’s All Americans in consecutive years was 2020-2021 (Sharife Cooper and Jabari Smith).

Syracuse has their first McDonald’s All American since 2015. Adiran Autry is only the second coach ever to bring a McDonald’s All American to the Orange out of high school (Jim Boeheim coached the previous 20 out of high school).

USC has had three straight classes with a McDonald’s All American, the first time they’ve brought in McDonald’s All American in three straight years out of high school.

From the high school perspective, more history was made as well. Prolific Prep (CA) and Montverde Academy (FL) lead the way with three representatives each from their respective high schools. Overtime Elite also will have multiple players in the game.

It’s the first time ever that multiple high schools produced three McDonald’s All Americans in the same class. It’s the fourth and fifth instances in the history of the game (2024 Prolific Prep, 2024 Montverde, 2022 IMG, 2020 Montverde, 2019 IMG).
