The 2024 Chipotle Nationals (formerly known as Geico Nationals) will be held at Brownsburg High School in Brownsburg, Indiana on April 4-6. It will be the first time since 2021 the tournament isn’t played in Fort Myers, Florida, on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College.
It will be the 15th annual tournament featuring the top high school basketball programs in the country.
On the Boys side, 8 teams will compete for the highest team honor in High School Basketball with Montverde Academy (FL) leading the charge as the top overall seed.
| SEED | PROGRAM |
| 1 | Montverde Academy (FL) |
| 2 | Paul VI (VA) |
| 3 | Prolific Prep (CA) |
| 4 | Long Island Lutheran (NY) |
| 5 | Christopher Columbus High School (FL) |
| 6 | Link Academy (MO) |
| 7 | IMG Academy (FL) |
| 8 | AZ Compass Prep (AZ) |
Montverde Academy will make their 13th appearance at the Chipotle Nationals making an appearance in each one since 2012 (Nationals were not held in 2020 due to COVID-19).
They are seeking their 7th tournament championship and first since winning it all in 2022. Montverde’s six tournament championships entering 2024 are by far the most by any school in the tournaments history. Findlay Prep (NV) is the only other program with multiple titles (3).
And Montverde has a good chance to win it all this year; entering with a 30-0 record having defeated each participant in the field already during the 2023-24 season.
But, history has shown that the top overall seed hasn’t fared well in recent tournaments, exiting in the first round in both 2023 and 2022. Last year, Link Academy, seeded fourth, emerged as the victor, while in 2022, third-seeded Montverde claimed the title.
Let’s delve into the teams participating in this year’s edition of the High School Nationals, now sponsored by Chipotle.
Montverde Academy (FL)

Boyle has led Montverde Academy to a record of 24-5 at the event helping Montverde to all six of their championships. This season, Boyle is led by Cooper Flagg, the consensus No. 1 overall player on ESPN, Rivals, 247 Sports and On3. Flagg was named the Naismith High School Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2023-24, averaging 16.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assist and 2.7 blocks per game.

Paul VI enters Chipotle with a 19-game winning streak. Their last lost was back in January to Christopher Columbus, who is also in the field this season, by just nine points. Head coach Glenn Farello’s roster is full of Division I talent. Pat Ngongba is headed to Duke along with Darren Harris, and Isaiah Abraham is headed to UConn.
Prolific Prep (CA)

They also have AJ Dybantsa, the consensus No. 1 overall junior in the country, and sophomore Tyran Stokes, ranked either No. 1 or 2 by every major recruiting outlet. Prolific Prep will face defending champion Link Academy in the first round, a team they’ve already defeated this season (77-76 in December).

Edgecombe was the 10th leading scorer in the conference averaging 15.7 points per game, and led the EYBL Scholastic League in total steals with 32. Alier Maluk also led the conference in total blocks.
Christopher Columbus (FL)
First Appearance

Christopher Columbus is home to the Boozer twins, Cayden and Cameron, who are both ranked inside the top 25 as juniors by almost every major recruiting service. Link Academy (MO)
Third appearance (2022, 2023)
Overall tournament record: 5-1
Best Finish: Won Championship (2023)
Head Coach: Bill Armstrong
Link Academy will appear in the nationals for the third time this season, and in each of their previous two appearance they’ve appeared in the championship game. IMG Academy (FL)
Fifth appearance (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023)
Overall tournament record: 6-4
Best Finish: Won Championship (2019)
Head Coach: Sean McAloon
Since winning it all in 2019, IMG Academy has seen their championship aspirations end in the semifinals. Could it change this year? They’ve already played their first round opponent Paul VI this season, and lost by just 1. IMG Academy, as usual, is loaded with talent led by McDonald’s All American Donovan Freeman, who is headed to Syracuse next season.
AZ Compass Prep (AZ)
Fourth appearance (2021, 2022, 2023)
Overall tournament record: 3-3
Best Finish: Lost Championship (2023)
Head Coach: Pete Kaffey
AZ Compass Prep enters Chipotle as one of the best defensive teams in the country. During NIBC play, AZ Compass Prep held opponents to 57.3 points per game, 3rd best in the conference. They are the only team this season to hold the undefeated Montverde under 60 points.
