With Chuck O’Bannon Jr. wrapping up his collegiate career at TCU in 2023-24, the curtain falls on all 24 players from the 2017 McDonald’s All American group in college.

This class featured a total of 16 NBA draft picks, nine of whom were selected in the lottery, including the number one overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, Deandre Ayton.

13 of the 24 players in the class were selected in the draft after just one year in college.

Two players in the entire class transferred schools: one being the aforementioned Chuck O’Bannon Jr. and the other being point guard Quade Green, who transferred from Kentucky to Washington.

According to numbers taken from Spotrac, the class combined to make approximately $732 million dollars in the NBA solely from contracts.

Deandre Ayton (1st pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Ayton spent one season at Arizona, where he averaged 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game on 61-percent shooting from the field. His 24 double-doubles at Arizona are still tied for the second-most by any freshman in Division I history.

This propelled him to the top spot in the 2018 NBA draft, where the Phoenix Suns selected him. He played in Phoenix for the first five seasons of his career before being traded to Portland during the offseason.

Ayton is currently playing on a four-year deal worth $132.9 million.

Jaren Jackson (4th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Jackson played one season at Michigan State, averaging 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game.

He would go on to win Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, becoming just the second player in Big Ten history to win both awards in the same season.

Jackson was taken by the Grizzlies and has played all six of his NBA seasons with the team. Jackson is currently playing on a four-year deal worth $104.7 million.

Trae Young (5th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Young concluded his freshman season at Oklahoma leading D-I in both points and assist per game. He still stands as the sole player in D-I history to top the nation in both categories during a single season.

After the season, he was taken by the Dallas Mavericks (pick later traded to the Hawks). Young, a three-time NBA All-Star, has already played a pivotal role in leading the Hawks to an Eastern Conference Finals.

He is currently playing on a five-year deal worth $215 million.

Mohamed “Mo” Bamba (6th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
In his lone season at Texas, Bamba averaged 12.9 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. His 111 blocks set a Texas freshman record, and his 10.5 rebounds per game are the second most by any Texas freshman only behind Kevin Durant’s 11.0.

Bamba was drafted by the Orlando Magic and played a total of 266 games for the franchise. He has also played for the Lakers and is currently with the 76ers.

Bamba played on a one-year deal worth $2.3 million and will be a free agent this offseason.

Wendell Carter (7th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Carter started 37 games in his only season at Duke, averaging 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. He also shot 41 percent from three on 46 attempts.

He was drafted by Chicago and played two full seasons for the franchise before being traded to the Orlando Magic in the middle of the 2020-21 season.

Carter is currently playing on a four-year deal worth $50 million.

Collin Sexton (8th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Sexton played in 33 games at Alabama during his freshman season, averaging 19.2 points per game, which remains the highest scoring average by any Alabama player in a single-season since 1992-93.

Sexton would help Alabama to a second round appearance in the NCAA tournament before declaring for the draft and being taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Currently in his 6th NBA season, Sexton is playing for the Utah Jazz. He is currently playing on a 4-year deal worth $70.9 million.

Kevin Knox (9th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Knox averaged 15.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in his lone season in Lexington at Kentucky. He was named to the All-SEC First Team and helped Kentucky reach the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Later, Knox declared for the draft and was selected by the New York Knicks. Throughout his six NBA seasons, Knox has played for four teams and currently plays for the Detroit Pistons.

Knox signed a one-year deal with the Pistons, but his contract details were not released. He is likely played on the veteran minimum and will be a free agent this offseason.

P.J. Washington (12th pick in 2019 NBA Draft)
Washington appeared in 72 games across two seasons at Kentucky, where he averaged 12.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He helped lead Kentucky to a Sweet 16 and Elite Eight appearance in separate seasons.

Washington was selected by the Hornets and had played his entire NBA career in Charlotte before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks earlier in 2024.

Currently, Washington is currently playing on a three-year deal worth $46.5 million.

Michael Porter Jr. (14th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Porter Jr. played in just three games at Missouri due to injuries before declaring for the draft.

Despite his limited college experience, he was selected in the lottery by the Denver Nuggets, where he has played for the last five seasons. Porter Jr. is an NBA champion and has a career scoring average around 16 points per game.

During the Nuggets NBA championship run, Porter started all 20 games, averaging 13.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Currently, Porter is currently playing on a five-year deal worth $179.2 million.

Troy Brown Jr. (15th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Brown Jr. started 35 games for Oregon in his only college season, wrapping up with averages of 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 assist per game.

He was drafted in the first round by the Washington Wizards, and has since played for a total of five teams since his debut in 2018.

He is currently playing on a two-year deal worth $8 million.

Lonnie Walker (18th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Walker played 32 games in his only season in college at Miami (FL), starting 18 of them, and averaged 11.5 points per contest.

He was taken with the 18th overall selection by the San Antonio Spurs. He played four seasons with the Spurs, one season with the Lakers and is now currently playing for the Nets.

Walker played on a one-year deal with Brooklyn worth $2.3 million and will be a free agent this offseason.

Mitchell Robinson (36th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Robinson originally committed to Western Kentucky but never actually played a regular season game. He sat out an entire year before entering the draft, where he was selected by the New York Knicks in the second round.

Robinson has played his entire career so far with the Knicks and has become a regular starter.

He is currently playing on a four-year deal worth $60 million.

Gary Trent Jr. (37th pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Trent Jr. spent one season at Duke and averaged 14.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from three. His 97 made three-pointers in the 2017-18 season are still the most by any freshman in Duke program history.

Trent Jr. was drafted by Sacramento in the second round, but the pick was traded to Portland. During his six seasons in the NBA, he has played for the Blazers and Raptors.

He played through 3-year deal worth $51.8 million and will be a free agent this offseason.

Jarred Vanderbilt (41st pick in 2018 NBA Draft)
Vanderbilt played in just 14 games due to injuries in his lone season at Kentucky.

Despite that, Vanderbilt was still selected in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic (pick was later traded to Denver).

Vanderbilt has played for four teams throughout his six seasons in the NBA and is currently playing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Vanderbilt played on a 3-year deal worth $13.1 million and will be a free agent this offseason.

Nick Richards (42nd pick in 2020 NBA draft)
Richards stayed in college for three years and played 105 games at Kentucky. During his final season, Richards averaged 14.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.

He was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round (the pick was later traded to the Hornets). He has played his entire career so far with Charlotte.

Richards is playing on a three-year deal worth $15 million dollars.

Jaylen Hands (56th pick in 2019 NBA draft)
Hands played 64 games in two seasons at UCLA averaging 12.1 points, 4.4 assist, and 3.8 rebounds per game.

Hands was selected with the 56th pick in the 2019 NBA draft by the LA Clippers (pick was later traded to the Nets).

Hands has yet to play a regular or postseason game in the NBA, but is currently playing for Palencia in Liga ACB.

Billy Preston (undrafted)
Preston didn’t play a single minute in the regular season for Kansas. He eventually signed with a Bosnian professional team amid an NCAA investigation.

Preston is currently playing for the Cape Town Tigers in South Africa where he averages 15.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Brandon McCoy (undrafted)
McCoy played a single season at UNLV where he averaged a team-high 16.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. McCoy was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and later declared for the 2018 NBA draft.

After going undrafted, McCoy signed a summer league deal with the Bucks, then signed with the Pelicans, before heading overseas and now he currently plays for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA G-League. During 2023-24, he averaged 9.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Brian Bowen (undrafted)
Bowen was originally committed to Louisville then transferred to South Carolina, but an NCAA investigation made playing in college difficult so he instead opted to play professionally. He started in the NBL, and declared for the 2019 Draft, where he did not hear his name called.

He did eventually get to play in the NBA, and also started a game for the Pacers during the 2019-20 season.

Bowen is currently with the Stockton Kings in the NBA G-League. He played 15 games in 2023-24 averaging 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Charles O’Bannon Jr. (???)
O’Bannon Jr. started his career at USC in 2017-18, where he appeared in 14 games a freshman and averaged 1.3 points per game. Over the next two seasons, he would play a total of 4 games due to injuries.

He would then transfer to TCU where he played four seasons and a total of 125 games.

Kris Wilkes (undrafted)
Wilkes played 66 games over two seasons at UCLA averaging 15.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He would then declare for the 2019 NBA draft and did not hear his name called.

As of right now, I could not find any other basketball related seasons for Wilkes. But, in 2023, it does look like he was apart of a training session called TGK that helps enhance your basketball skills.

M.J. Walker (undrafted)
Walker played four seasons at Florida State with a career average of 9.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. Walker was a two-time team captain and All-ACC performer, who scored over 1,000 points in his career.

Walker played in three NCAA tournaments and a total of 10 NCAA tournament games.

Walker did go undrafted in 2021, but did appear in two games for the Phoenix Suns during the 2021-22 season. He currently is playing for the Canterbury Rams in the NBL.

Quade Green (undrafted)
Played four seasons at the Division I level for both Kentucky and Washington. During his senior season, Green averaged a career-high 15.4 points per game.

Green had a few stints in the NBA G League but is currently playing overseas for Caledonia Gladiators in BBL Championship league.

Trevon Duval (undrafted)
Duval appeared in 37 games for Duke as a freshman and averaged 10.3 points and 5.6 assist per game. His 207 assists were the fourth-most in a season by a Duke freshman.

He went undrafted but did appear in three games for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018-19.

As of now, it looks like Duval is seeking a new home after Manisa parted ways with him earlier this year.
