USA Basketball’s under-18 team took care of business versus Belize 150-54 in their second game at the AmeriCup. The 150 points are the second-most points scored by Team USA u18 squad all-time. The only time they scored more was the 156 put up against Uruguay in 2014.

But more history was also made on the team front. Team USA finished with 43 assist, which is a new team record breaking the previous record of 40 held since June 20, 2014 against Uruguay. Furthermore, the 96-point win is the second largest by the Americans since the tournament format switched to under-18 in 2006. It’s just their third 90-point win over that span.

Darius Acuff Jr. led the way for Team USA with 23 points on 9-of-12 (75%) FG, and he also dished out five assist. It was Acuff Jr’s second straight 20-point game since the tournament began, becoming the first player since Michael Porter Jr. in 2016 to score 20-plus points in each of the first two team games for the u18 team.

Jeremiah Fears, an Illinois commit, came off the bench and scored 17 points, dished out six assist and had seven steals. Fears is the only player since 2006 to record at least 15 points, five assist and five steals in a game for the u18 squad, and his seven steals are also the most by any player during that span.

Morez Johnson Jr., an Illinois commit, finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds, becoming the first player since Quincy Miller in 2010 to record a 15-point, 15-rebound game for the u18 team.

USA basketball has one more group phase game scheduled for Wednesday against Brazil. Team USA’s u18 team is a perfect 10-0 against Brazil at the AmeriCup/Americas Championship. They’ve won each of the previous two contest by 40 points against the country at the tournament.
