Inside the Numbers: 2024 Nike Peach Jam Day 1

The official first day of the Nike Peach Jam did not disappoint.

Both the Oakland Soldiers (CA) and Nightrydas Elite (FL) had three separate 20-point scorers each. For the Oakland Soldiers, AJ Dybantsa finished with 21 points on 55% shooting, Tyran Stokes finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and five assists on 77% shooting, while Christopher Nwuli finished with 26 points and five rebounds on 69% shooting.

Notably, Stokes became the ninth player over the last eight years with at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a single game at the Peach Jam. Of the nine, only Cade Cunningham in 2019 had a better field goal percentage (Cunningham: 29 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists on 12-15 FG).

Furthermore, it was the first time during that same 8-year span that two teammates finished with at least 25 points and five rebounds on 65% shooting or better in the same game.

Turning to the Nightrydas, Caleb Wilson finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and two steals; Dante Allen finished with 22 points and five rebounds; while Cameron Boozer finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The Nightrydas’ trio of 20-point scorers all had at least five rebounds, making them just the third team since 2017 to have three separate players each record at least 20 points and five rebounds in a single game, joining the 2019 Texas Titans and 2019 Indy Heat.

Jalen Haralson of Indy Heat (IN) led all scorers on the first day with 29 points. Haralson, an ESPN five-star prospect in the class of 2025, accounted for 48% of the offense for the Indy Heat in their 83-60 loss to the Oakland Soldiers.

Keyshuan Tillery of City Rocks (NY) had the highest game score of any player on the day. Game Score was created by ESPN’s John Hollinger to give a rough measure of a player’s productivity for a single game, and Tillery recorded a score of 25.7. For reference, including Tillery, only five players recorded a game score of 20 or more on Day one.

Meleek Thomas of the New Heights Lightning (NY) finished with 25 points and seven rebounds. Returning for another season with the Lightning, Thomas’ 25 points on the opening day were the most he has scored in a single game over the past two years at the Peach Jam.

On the 16U level, Jermal Jones of Jet Academy led the way, scoring 25 points on 8-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-4 from three. Meanwhile, on the 15U level, two performances stole the spotlight.
