And then there were three. Nightrydas Elite (FL), Team Takeover (DC), and the Oakland Soldiers are the remaining unbeaten teams at the 2024 Nike Peach Jam through six days.
Drive Nation (TX), once unbeaten, stumbled in a 74-63 defeat to JL3 (TX). Meanwhile, the Oakland Soldiers held their ground, dispatching Brad Beal Elite (MO) to keep their perfect record intact. Both Takeover and Nightrydas enjoyed a day of rest, but the real action is yet to come.
On the 19th, the trio of unbeatens return to the court. The Oakland Soldiers face the PSA Cardinals at 9 a.m. ET, Nightrydas Elite clash with City Rocks at 10:30 a.m. ET, and Team Takeover battles Team Thad (TN) at 12 p.m. ET.
Regarding individual performances, we saw our first 30-piece of the Peach Jam from Jeremiah Fears of Indy Heat (NOTE: Jerry Easter of Team Final (PA) scored 31 points in the play-in).
Fears scored 35 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a loss to the NY Rens (NY), while also shooting 71 percent from the field. Fears accounted for 51 percent of his team’s offense and had a game score of 34.1, the highest by any player at the Peach Jam since Gus Yalden had 35 points and 17 rebounds on 70-percent shooting in 2022.
He’s just the second player since 2017 to record 35 points or more on 70 percent shooting or better in a single game at the Peach Jam, joining the previously mentioned Gus Yalden in 2022.
AJ Dybantsa continued his scoring spree for the Oakland Soldiers, tallying 21 points and six rebounds. Dybantsa has now notched 20 or more points in nine consecutive Peach Jam games, tying Keyon Menifield for the most 20-point games by a player since 2017.
Tyran Stokes also shined finishing with 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while shooting 64 percent from the field. It marks his second 20-point game of this Peach Jam.
Jaden Toombs delivered a standout performance with 23 points and 13 rebounds against JL3 (TX), his highest output in both categories at this year’s event.
Jahadi White, who had 22 total points across his first three games at the Peach Jam, scored 25 points against the undefeated Oakland Soldiers on 85 percent shooting from the field. He accounted for 39 percent of the offense for Brad Beal Elite (MO).
Halon Rawlins finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and three steals in the NY Rens’ (NY) win over Indy Heat (IN). He joins a select group of players who have recorded at least 15 points, three steals, and three blocks in a game since 2017. The last to achieve this feat was Liam McNeeley in 2022.
At the 16u level, Marcus Johnson led all scorers with a dazzling 31-point display for Indy Heat (IN) in their victory over Jet Academy. Johnson accounted for 36 percent of the offense and added six assists, surpassing his combined points and assists from the previous two games.
Miles Sadler of Arizona Unity (AZ) was a standout, scoring 29 of his team’s 77 points in their loss to Brad Beal Elite (MO). Despite his 5-foot-11 frame, Sadler is averaging 18.7 points per game on 73 percent shooting.
The 15u level wasn’t short on excitement either. Donovan Davis of Team Herro (WI) finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds in a win against Expressions Elite (MA). Davis is currently the leading rebounder at the 15u level with an average of 8.7 per game. It was his first double-double of the Peach Jam.
Tyler Sutton scored 25 points and grabbed four rebounds in a game where he shot 82 percent from the field. It was Sutton’s second 20-point game of the Peach Jam so far.
Ty Schlagel of Howard Pulley (MN) had his best scoring game in a win over USC Unleashed (SC), finishing with 24 points and five rebounds on 10-of-15 (67%) shooting. Schlagel has scored in double figures in all three of his games, averaging 17 points per game.
Marcus Spears of Drive Nation (TX) tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds, his highest totals in a single game at the Peach Jam, and secured his first double-double.
