2027 guard Brandon Martin Jr’s recruitment picking up steam

Brandon Martin Jr., a 2027 guard from Greensburg Central Catholic (PA), has seen a significant rise in his recruitment in the past 30 days. After a series of unofficial visits to Kent State and Marshall, Martin Jr. now has his first Division I scholarship offer and a lot more knowledge about the programs vying for his talent.

His latest trip to Marshall ended on a high note with a scholarship offer that had Martin Jr. grinning from ear to ear.

“We got to the football game, and an assistant coach told me that the head coach wanted to talk to me,” Martin Jr. explained. “When the time came, it was almost like a movie scene. It was perfect. He just said, ‘I like what I see. Keep working, but we’re going to give you an official offer.’”

“It was a great feeling. I couldn’t stop smiling. I’m going to let this excitement carry me to the end of today, because tomorrow it’s right back to business”

Overall, the visit to Marshall was a slam dunk for Martin Jr. Not only did he get to watch a high-energy practice, but it was the welcoming atmosphere that really left its mark.

“The assistant coach was really approachable and was really focused on talking to me the whole time,” he said. “That was something that stood out about the visit. The hospitality they showed.”

At Kent State, the atmosphere felt just as welcoming, and Martin Jr. sensed he could thrive in that environment.

“The coaches were very approachable. I like how they hold themselves,” he said. “Watching practice, I also seen the way different coaches work their group of kids and the intensity level in the gym was insane. The energy in the gym was the part I liked the most. I also like how interactive the coaches are with the kids after they make mistakes and show them the proper way to do things. I also like the fact they pray at the end of practice.

“There facilities are amazing also, I can see why they produce first team players, just by the way they practice. Everything is intense. They had referees in officiating during games.”

As of now, Marshall, Kent State, Miami (OH), Akron, Concord, and several other programs are actively recruiting him. Martin Jr. plans to visit Miami (OH) and Akron in the near future, though dates haven’t been set. With his recruitment picking up steam, the 6-foot-6 guard is back to the grind, refining his game to catch even more eyes.

“I got to get after it now. I been focused on getting stronger, shooting, handling, basically everything,” he said. “I’m just trying to add more stuff to my game by watching other players who have done it already.”
