Yeabsera Aklog is a name many coaches are already circling on their recruiting boards—and if you haven’t heard of him yet, it’s time to catch up. The 6-foot-10 standout from Eastside Catholic (WA) is a four-star recruit, according to ESPN, and has drawn interest from top programs like Washington, LSU, Stanford, and West Virginia, among others.
When asked what makes him such a hot commodity, Aklog didn’t hesitate: “Probably just how skilled I am for my size.”
Washington recently rolled out the red carpet for him with an unofficial visit in early October, and it couldn’t have gone better.
“That was great. I got to watch them practice, and I went to the football game,” Aklog said. “It was a wild experience, and I have a really good relationship with the staff. During the live period, they came to all my games and have stayed in constant contact, so it’s been good.”
For now, the recruiting trail is cooling off as Aklog zeroes in on his high school season and pushing his game to the next level. The plan? Be ready when the coaches flood the gyms again, showcasing just how much his game has grown.
“I just want to show how much I’ve improved athletically,” he said. “How I’ve gotten stronger and faster.”
