Troy redshirt junior guard Darian Adams entered the NCAA transfer portal. Adams will graduate this spring and will be eligible immediately.

Adams averaged 12.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assist in a career year for himself as a player. He played in 25 games in his final season with the program and scored in double-figures in 15 games.

It wasn’t anything negative against Troy that forced Adams into the transfer portal, he just, “wanted to seek other opportunities.”

So far, Arkansas, Oregon State, Colorado State, New Mexico State, Towson and Jacksonville State have been in contact.

It will be a long, thoughtful process for Adams, as he navigates through his recruitment with the coronavirus taking over the sports world.

“I’m not close at all,” he said of a commitment. “I’m still trying to see what school best fits me and still trying to get more comfortable with all coaches.”

In addition to building a good relationship, finding the best fit is the No. 1 priority.

“Somewhere I can be me at,” Adams explained. “Somewhere I can compete for a conference championship, and looking for a great group of guys to be around.”
